CREATE EMAIL ACCOUNTS IN CPANEL AND SET STRONG MAILBOX PASSWORDS Print

  • 0

Overview

If your hosting plan includes email, you can create mailboxes in cPanel such as info@yourdomain.com. Each mailbox has its own password and storage quota.

Create a mailbox

1) Log in to cPanel.

2) Email → Email Accounts.

3) Click Create.

4) Choose the domain (if multiple domains exist).

5) Enter:

   - Username

   - Password (strong)

   - Quota (use default unless you have a reason to change)

6) Click Create.

Password best practices

- Use 12+ characters, ideally generated by a password manager.

- Do not reuse passwords between mailboxes or other logins.

- For shared mailboxes (info@, sales@), treat credentials as sensitive.

Access methods

Webmail

- cPanel → Email Accounts → Check Email

Email apps (Outlook, iPhone Mail, Gmail app)

- Use IMAP for receiving (recommended)

- Use SMTP2GO for sending (recommended)

Mailboxes vs forwarders

Mailbox

- Stores email on the server and syncs via IMAP.

Forwarder

- Sends incoming email to another address (e.g., your Gmail).

Common issues

- Mailbox full: increase quota or archive/delete

- Cannot log in: reset mailbox password in cPanel

- Can receive but cannot send: configure SMTP2GO for outgoing mail

Quick test

- Send a test email from Gmail to your new mailbox

- Reply from webmail

- Confirm delivery and spam placement
