Overview
The 1-click installer in cPanel is the simplest way to install WordPress. It sets up files, database, and basic configuration.
Before you install
- Ensure your domain is pointing to your hosting (or you have a temporary URL).
- If possible, wait until SSL is available so you can install directly on https://.
Installation steps
1) Log in to cPanel.
2) Open the WordPress installer (name varies by server).
3) Click Install.
4) Choose:
- Protocol: https:// (recommended)
- Domain: yourdomain.com
- Directory: leave empty to install at the root
5) Set admin username/password/email:
- Avoid “admin” username
- Use a strong password
6) Click Install.
After installation (recommended)
- Log in to /wp-admin
- Update WordPress, themes, and plugins
- Remove unused themes/plugins
- Configure permalinks (Post name)
- Configure backups
- Configure email sending via SMTP2GO for reliable delivery
Common issues
- Site not loading: DNS not propagated
- SSL missing: wait for DNS, run AutoSSL, then force HTTPS
- wp-admin slow: reduce heavy plugins and enable caching
