WELCOME TO DPRIME HOSTING AUSTRALIA: WHAT TO DO FIRST Print

  • 0

Overview
This guide covers the recommended first steps after purchasing hosting with Dprime Hosting Australia. The goal is to get your website online correctly, confirm SSL (HTTPS), and ensure email is configured in a deliverability-friendly way (including SMTP2GO for sending where applicable).

What you should have ready
- WHMCS Client Area login (email + password)
- cPanel login details (or “Login to cPanel” button in WHMCS)
- Domain registrar access (if your domain is registered elsewhere)
- Cloudflare access (only if you use Cloudflare)
- Email requirements: do you want mailboxes on cPanel, or email hosted elsewhere (Google/Microsoft)?

Step 1: Verify your service in WHMCS
1) Log in to your WHMCS Client Area.
2) Go to Services and confirm your hosting is Active.
3) Open the service and note:
   - Primary domain (or temporary URL)
   - Any nameserver or DNS connection guidance
   - Any included features (email mailbox count, backups, etc.)

Step 2: Log in to cPanel and confirm account access
1) From your service page, use “Login to cPanel” if available.
2) Confirm you can access:
   - File Manager (website files)
   - Email Accounts (mailboxes)
   - MySQL Databases (for WordPress/apps)
   - SSL/TLS Status (certificate management)

Step 3: Connect your domain correctly
You will use ONE of these approaches:
A) Nameservers (simple)
- Change the domain’s nameservers at your registrar to the ones provided by Dprime Hosting.
- DNS is then managed where the nameservers point.

B) DNS Records (A/CNAME) (common with Cloudflare)
- Keep nameservers at Cloudflare (or another DNS provider).
- Update A record for @ and CNAME for www to point to your hosting IP/target.

Do not guess. If you are unsure, use the “Connecting Your Domain: Nameservers vs A Records” article.

Step 4: Confirm SSL (HTTPS)
After DNS points correctly:
- Visit https://yourdomain.com
If SSL is not active yet:
- Wait for DNS propagation (often minutes, sometimes longer)
- Run AutoSSL (if available) then re-test

Step 5: Configure email the right way
If you host mailboxes on cPanel:
- Create mailboxes in cPanel
- Configure devices using IMAP for receiving
- Use SMTP2GO for sending (recommended)

If you use Google Workspace/Microsoft 365:
- Keep MX records pointing to Google/Microsoft
- Still set SPF/DKIM/DMARC properly

Step 6: Do a quick health check
Website
- Homepage loads on https://
- WordPress admin works (if WordPress)
Email
- Send/receive test
- Confirm sent messages do not land in spam (SPF/DKIM/DMARC)
Backups
- Know what is backed up and how restore requests work

When to open a ticket
Open a ticket if:
- You’re unsure about DNS and email (highest risk)
- SSL fails to issue after DNS is confirmed
- Email can receive but cannot send (often SMTP settings)

What to include in the ticket
- Domain name
- DNS provider (registrar/Cloudflare)
- Email provider (cPanel/Google/Microsoft)
- What you want to achieve and any deadlines
